Al Shiraa'a CSI3*International Horse Show 2020 - WEEK 2

Last night saw the inauguration of the first ever Puissance competition at the Al Shiraa'a Horse Show sponsored by TheraPlate with a €25,000 (AED 101,500) prize fund.
The crowd pleaser saw course designer Bernado Costa Cabral Show Jumping FEI Level 4, choose four fences in total for the much-anticipated event. The course consisted of an upright and oxer, followed by the TheraPlate Triple Bar and finishing with the iconic wall with a starting height of 1.45cm. Bernado chose to increase the wall height by 20cm for the first two rounds and 10cm in the third and fourth rounds.

Abdullah Al Sharbatly - KSA on Arthur JH Z (Andiamo / Baloubet du Rouet)
Naser Al Shawwaf - KSA on Moeen (Lord Z / Voltaire)
Mouda Zeyada - EGY on Vizalaty (Newton de Kreisker / Mr Blue)
complete the three rounds and take home a share of the €25,000 (AED 101,500) prize fund after no clears in the fourth and final round.
In addition to the cash prize, the winners also received a €6,000 (AED 25,000) discount on purchase of the TheraPlate product spit between them.

Speaking to event organisers Al Shiraa'a prior to the class, veteran UK rider and experienced Puissance jumper Michael Whitaker, said his advice to fellow competitors would be to “shut your eyes and kick.”
The Puissance competition has been the highlight of global top level jumping for decades, and the official world record is still held by iconic German rider Franke Sloothaak, who in cleared 2.40m in Chaudfontaine, Belgium on Optiebeurs Golo in 1991.
