The online Foal Auction Prinsjesdag turned out to be a successful one for Al Asayl Showjumping based here in the UAE.
Overall, ten jumping and seven dressage foals were auctioned, with the top price paid for the outstanding Al Asayl Show Jumping’s Diarado filly Perla AASJ, which reached EUR 20,000.
Perla AASJ (Diarado x For Pleasure, bred by Al Asayl Showjumping) remains in the Netherlands. According to the organisers, there was a lot of interest for this talented great-granddaughter of the phenomenal mare Fragance de Chalus.
Caroline Kettle, Co-Ordinator for Al Asayl Showjumping told Show Hub, “Al Asayl Showjumping has been an avid supporter of the Prinsjesdag Foal Auction over the years due to the platform it provides, specialising in quality foals, plus this auction attracts an international buying market.
Under the current uncertain situation, the on-line foal auctions have become the solution to the market. To be honest it was with some trepidation to go in this year due to the circumstances. However, with the expertise and confidence given by Highfield Genetics,( who look after Al Asayl Show Jumping’s mares, foals and youngstock), the foal was presented to the Prinsjesdag Selection Committee and accepted, which gave us the confidence to go with it. We sent up a quality foal in Perla AASJ, her final bid reflected upon this.”
Interestingly across the sale, the jumping foals achieved better prices than the dressage foals, with nine out of ten showjumping foals sold at an average price of € 9,900.
Chairman of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag Arjan van der Waaij said, “It was very positive to see that the bids were made from all over the world. Not only within Europe, but also from the United States and the United Emirates. We are pleased to note that the customer base of Foal Auction Prinsjesdag is still growing. This is due to the high quality of the foals selected for our auctions, and the long line of successful references.”
